Shine Your Light Yoga

Mudita Yoga and Take Back the Night present

Saturday, September 29th

This national event showcases yoga as a pathway to strength and healing.

Take Back The Night represents the earliest worldwide stand against sexual violence, especially violence against women. In 2001, Katie Koestner, the first woman in the US to speak out nationally and publicly about being the victim of campus “date” rape, reached out to early event organizers about uniting their efforts and sharing their history. In a collective effort, the Take Back The Night Foundation has the ability to share a collective history and support each other in their individual causes.

Now they are celebrating the power of yoga to strengthen and heal survivors of all forms of sexual violence.

On Saturday, September 29 they will be circling the US with Shine Your Light Yoga events. They are choosing one studio in each capital city to represent their vision.

How grateful, honored, awed, pleased to be chosen to be a

Here is an overview of the day:

Release 10:15 - 11:30 am

We will begin connecting to our breath, intending to give our body permission to release. Release the tension, the holding, the pain. The movements will be gentle and mindful. Threading our breath with movement will create calmness of mind, moments of clarity, spaciousness to remember who we are.

Support circle 11:30 am- 12:00 pm

Experience the benefits of gathering in the energy of your practice. We will explore the art of writing, guided with prompts we will journal and discover the way to allow our practice to grow-fluid us in the direction of our highest good.

Rejuvenate 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm

Connecting to the ground, we will feel the ability to move with ease, allowing the body fluidity, the energy room to flow. We will strengthen, stabilize and balance our whole being, leaving awake, alive and ready to Shine!

Poetry circle 2:30 - 3:00 pm

Poetry has the ability to guide us toward our healing and bring words to our experience. We will explore poetry's power through discussion, reflection, writing, allowing the wisdom from within to be revealed.

Rise 3:30 - 4:30 pm

Leading with heart, rooted in the earth, we will connect to the light inside. The movements will bring warmth to the body, giving room to let go of what is not serving us, giving room to rise to our truth, our purpose. Saying ‘yes’ to that truth we rise to Shine Our Light!

Closing circle 4:30 - 5:00 pm

Chanting brings a sense of peacefulness and ease to our being. We will close our day with Kirtan and candlelight. Led by the amazing Lerainne we will sing praises to the light within us all! Our souls filled we feel emPowered to shine our light in the world!

All classes will be co-taught by our amazing Mudita staff. Each movement, every breath, will encompass this vision . . .

We, at Mudita, believe in the power of yoga. We believe in the possibility for yoga to bring us into connection – to our breath, to our body, to our deepest essence. Yoga offers a space to sit and be with emotions, with memories and to heal from the wounds that create disconnection, that bind us to our past, that tell we are not enough. We allow yoga to be the catalyst to lead us toward the light of recovery, to bring us home to the truth that we are enough, we belong, that our potential is extraordinary.

It is there we feel empowered to Shine Our Light!

We invite you to sign up in advance as the classes will sell out.
